The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) is the ideal starting point for anyone interested in learning computer and Internet basics and is the world's first validated, standards-based training and certification program. The IC³ certification consists of three modules:

IC³ - Computing Fundamentals

• A general understanding of computer hardware
• A general understanding of computer software
• An understanding of how to use a computer operating system to perform everyday tasks (installing software, managing files, changing system settings, etc.)

IC³ - Key Applications

• An understanding of the common features of Windows applications (starting and exiting programs; managing files; common editing, formatting, and printing functions)
• An understanding of specific features needed to operate word processors at basic levels
• An understanding of specific features needed to operate spreadsheet programs at basic levels

IC³ - Living Online

• An understanding of how computers connect to networks and the Internet
• An understanding of electronic mail and electronic mail software
• An understanding of online resources such as newsgroups, mailing lists, and the World Wide Web
• An understanding of Web browser programs
  An understanding of the impact of computing and the Internet on society
